He Signed. Now Don’t Coast.

Tad Reida

Signing feels like the end. It isn’t. It’s the start of the part where a lot of kids get soft.

Senior spring still matters. So does the summer before he reports. Strength. Arm. Grades. The freshman who shows up out of shape has already told the staff who he is.

Keep the yard work. Keep the plan. The teammates he’s about to meet have been training like it already started.

You can exhale a little. You cannot check out. The relationship still needs the same rules it needed at 14: be there, don’t overcoach, don’t make every dinner a recruiting meeting.

He earned a chance. That’s all a signature is.
