Parents: your #1 role is to guide and direct your athlete.

As a D1 coach, I was recruiting the player, not the parent. Phone calls, emails, texts, etc all need to come directly from the player….not the parent.

On a visit, let the player speak. The coach will interact with parents as well, but when the coach is chatting with the player, let them speak for themselves.

Be there to guide and mentor your athlete as it is a very complicated process and he will need your help to weigh the pros and cons!
